Cottage life is common for Canadians, especially so in the Ottawa area. We’re surrounded by amazing landscapes and beautiful lakes. With this BBQ we wanted to bring home the feeling of cooking dinner over a camp fire. The design focuses on using a traditional camp fire, housed within a steel pocket, to re-create that unique cooking experience. This project was also an exploration in materials and processes. A birch frame designed to hold extra wood and the fire. Laser cut stainless steel grill and steel pocket. Concrete frame holding the assembly together. We wanted to use raw materials to give that feeling of being out in nature while still at home.
