Winter in Ottawa is a bone chilling cold, it forces you to adapt or it forces you away. Hats, gloves, jackets, boots, snow pants, these are all daily requirements in this city. We took a look at what we could do to help keep ourselves just a bit warmer during those long winter months.

Warmth is an exploration in materials and processes. We chose sheep wool from British Columbia, learned how to felt the wool and used a simple waxed string cross stitch to hold it in place. We learned how to form thin plywood, boiling the wood until it became soft enough to bend around our form. The result was a warm set of earmuffs that felt truly Canadian.
